The Stromberg family has donated $1 million to support heart care at Battlefords Union Hospital in North Battleford and health-care education.
The gift to the Battlefords Healthcare Foundation supports a hospital-wide cardiac monitoring and telemetry system.
The foundation said the system helps health-care teams monitor patients’ heart activity and respond to changes in their condition.
“For someone receiving care, a heart monitor represents more than a piece of equipment. It means someone is watching closely, with information that helps guide their care,” said Leanne Ducommun, the foundation’s executive director.
The donation also provides funding for a new electrocardiogram (ECG) machine.
Of the donation, $250,000 is designated for a scholarship fund supporting health-care education. Remaining funds are dedicated to future heart-care technology.
“The Stromberg family’s generosity supports that care today while investing in the people and technology our community will need in the years ahead,” Ducommun said.
