A teenage boy from Pelican Lake First Nation is alleged responsible for an armed robbery that occurred last Friday at a business in Debden.
At approximately 11 a.m., police said a male entered the business, threatened an employee with a firearm, and demanded money. He then fled in a vehicle. No physical injuries were reported to police.
RCMP officers began patrolling for the vehicle and alerted nearby detachments. When the suspect vehicle was located on Highway 3, officers activated their emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop.
The vehicle did not stop and continued on at a high rate of speed.
Officers continued efforts to locate and stop the vehicle.
The vehicle later got stuck on a side road and the driver was arrested by Blaine Lake RCMP.
A sawed-off firearm and cash were seized at the scene. The vehicle was determined to have been reported in stolen in La Ronge on April 2.
As a result of continued investigation, the accused is facing a total of eight charges , including robbery, pointing a firearm, unsafe storage and possession of a firearm, dangerous driving and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
He is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on April 8.
