The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating after a man was injured during an RCMP arrest on Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation.
On Oct. 6, around 1 p.m., Battlefords RCMP attempted to stop a vehicle on the First Nation. The vehicle failed to stop and pulled into the driveway of a residence.
An investigation determined the driver had a suspended licence and was wanted on outstanding warrants. He was arrested without incident.
The vehicle also had two adult passengers, a woman and a man. The male passenger did not comply with officers’ requests to exit the vehicle. Officers removed him from the vehicle and arrested him.
Officers called EMS to assess the man, who was later released without charge.
RCMP were later notified that the man required further medical care for an injury. Given the nature of the injury, SIRT was notified and will investigate the circumstances of police involvement leading up to the man’s injury.
