The trial for a woman charged in connection with alleged assaults at a care facility in Wilkie is scheduled to begin next Monday at North Battleford Provincial Court.
Jaclyn Elias is facing multiple charges stemming from incidents that allegedly occurred at Prairie Branches between January 2023 and February 2024.
Wilkie RCMP said investigators determined at least four adult residents at the facility were assaulted, sexually assaulted and/or threatened during that time period.
Police allege Elias, who worked as a staff member at the facility until February 2024, is charged with four counts of assault, three counts of sexual assault, one count of sexual assault with a weapon and one count of uttering threats.
Elias was arrested Feb. 29, 2024, and first appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Aug. 26, 2024.
Court proceedings have since continued through multiple appearances, with the matter now scheduled to proceed to trial beginning Monday.
Provincial court trials typically involve testimony from witnesses and the presentation of evidence, after which a judge determines whether the charges have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
