RCMP are investigating after a man from British Columbia died in a single-vehicle rollover near Unity over the weekend.
Police said officers responded around 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23 to the crash site at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 675, west of the community. The driver, an adult male, was declared dead at the scene by EMS. His family has been notified.
Before the rollover, RCMP said they had received several calls about the vehicle being driven erratically. Officers attempted to stop it, but the car continued at a high speed.
When police arrived at the crash scene, they provided First Aid until paramedics took over.
Because of the police interaction prior to the rollover, Saskatchewan RCMP reported the death to the province’s Serious Incident Response Team. The agency determined the matter was not within its mandate.
RCMP said the investigation is ongoing with assistance from a collision reconstructionist.
